Pomeranian Potty TrainingPomeranian potty training can often seem like a never-ending battle, but there are some simple tips you could be putting into place to make it work sooner than you might expect. The last thing you want to see when you get home is a puddle on your new rug! This is why the following Pomeranian potty training tips are going to greatly benefit you and your house.

You must realize that your Pomeranian puppy is not going to have a 100% success rate, there are times in your training when they will pee where you don’t want them to, you have just got to accept this fact and persist in training your pup as well as you can.

Pomeranian potty training requires patience, especially with a young pup. There are many different methods to potty training a Pomeranian. One of these methods is Puppy Pads. They are soft, scented pads that are meant to attract your dog to them. Occasionally they will work, but sometimes a little puppy will miss the pad. There are many different brands, and they can be found in most pet shops and supermarkets.

Another method is newspaper, and I personally think this is the best option, as it worked beautifully with all my Pomeranian’s.

Newspaper has an unusual scent, and straight away I noticed my little pup was attracted to the smell. I laid down some newspaper at night and in the morning he had gone to the toilet right in the middle of the paper.

I then moved the newspaper just outside the door. This led him outside when ever he needed to go to the toilet. Eventually, after about 3 days, my Pom was going to the toilet outside. Of course there were a couple of little accidents, but 90% of the time, he went on the newspaper.

Pomeranian Potty Training Tip: Watch Closely

The best Pomeranian potty training tip is to watch your puppy very carefully after they have eaten. They usually tend to go to the toilet after a meal. When a young puppy wants to go to the toilet, they will start to sniff around on the ground, while walking slowly. This means they are finding a place to mark their territory.

Once you see this, pick your puppy up and put him outside on the grass. At first, he will be confused, but then he will continue to sniff around, and then go to the toilet. If you keep this up, your pup will soon understand that he has to go outside to go to the toilet.

Pomeranian Potty Training Tip: Don’t Get Angry!

The aim of your Pomeranian potty training is to get them outside whenever they feel the urge to pee, getting angry if they pee inside will not work.

You must realize that getting angry at your Pomeranian once they have peed on the floor will not work. Sticking their head close to it and saying “No” will also not work, they will not know what they have done wrong.

If you are able to say “No” at the exact time your Pom is peeing on the carpet and take him outside to pee this would be a great lesson for him, however once he has finished peeing you will not be able to teach him anything.

So you simply need to encourage your Poperanian to go outside when he gets the urge to pee, keep persisting with taking him outside and watching him at certain times after meals to determine the best time to take him outside.

Before long, these Pomeranian potty training tips will have you and your Pom living together in a clean and respectable home.
